Party Floor Team

ASCOntario, CA
Hybrid

About The Position

The Party Floor Team member is a crucial frontline staff member responsible for maintaining a safe, welcoming, and high-energy environment in the convention’s official party floor. In this staff-level role, you will work during night-time hours to monitor active party areas, ensure that room hosts are adhering to the convention's established safety and community guidelines, and staff the ASC Hydration Room. If you are a proactive, observant communicator who can balance a fun social atmosphere with rule enforcement, this role places you at the heart of the convention's nightlife operations.

Requirements

  • Strict adherence to your scheduled shift times. Because party spaces operate late into the evening, being on time and ready for night-shift coverage is critical to keeping the floor operational
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal skills to communicate and enforce convention guidelines clearly, firmly, and politely with highly energized crowds
  • The ability to "think on your feet" when encountering a rowdy room or a supply shortage, remaining completely calm, helpful, and professional under pressure
  • Comfort with standing, walking, and moving between hotel floors for the duration of a multi-hour evening shift, as well as lifting water jugs or restocked supplies
  • All volunteers must be 18 years of age or older.

Nice To Haves

  • A deep understanding of convention party culture and community expectations, allowing you to seamlessly engage with attendees while anticipating potential issues
  • Prior experience in hospitality, event safety, event staffing, retail, or a front-facing customer support role
  • Excellent de-escalation skills to handle late-night rule enforcement or policy reminders with absolute tact and composure

Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular walkthroughs of the party floor during operational hours to ensure hosts and attendees are following the convention's code of conduct, noise levels, and safety protocols
  • Staff and maintain the ASC Hydration Room, greeting attendees, monitoring guest safety, and ensuring water stations and supplies stay well-stocked and accessible throughout your shift
  • Act as eyes and ears on the ground, identifying overcrowding, property damage, or safety hazards, and quickly escalating major policy violations or emergencies to the Party Floor Manager
  • Serve as a friendly and helpful resource for party hosts, answering logistical questions, tracking trash collection needs, and helping them maintain a safe space for their guests
  • Help monitor hallways and high-traffic entryways to prevent unsafe bottlenecks and ensure clear paths for attendees moving between rooms

Benefits

  • Free convention membership and staff perks
  • Staff hospitality (meals/snacks during your shifts at-con)
  • Exclusive staff events and social opportunities
  • Recognition in convention materials
  • Experience in event management and team leadership
  • A supportive, creative community environment
  • References and recommendation letters upon request
