About The Position

This role involves planning, coordinating, and facilitating events, including children's birthday parties, within a Michaels store to ensure a fun and engaging experience for guests. The position also includes delivering friendly customer service, assisting customers with shopping and checkout, and completing operational tasks such as truck unloading and merchandise duties. The Party & Event Host will demonstrate and instruct craft projects, perform face painting, and manage event add-ons, while also handling administrative tasks and ensuring client satisfaction. Upholding company cleanliness and safety standards, including setup, breakdown, and cleaning before and after events, is crucial. Additionally, the role requires assisting customers with shopping, providing a fast and friendly checkout, promoting loyalty programs, educating customers on surveys, and supporting omnichannel processes like BOPIS and SFS. Participation in stocking, merchandise recovery, and safety programs is also expected. Cross-training in Custom Framing and maintaining store cleanliness are additional responsibilities.

Requirements

Retail and/or customer service experience required.
Must have excellent people skills.
Must have experience working with children and children’s events.
Must have good communication skills including written, verbal, and nonverbal communication as well as listening skills.
Must have organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and creative problem-solving skills.
Ability to remain standing for long periods of time.
Ability to move throughout the store.
Regular bending, lifting, carrying, reaching, and stretching.
Lifting heavy boxes and accessing high shelves by ladder or similar equipment.

Responsibilities

Plan and coordinate multiple events simultaneously, including children's birthday parties and craft classes.
Engage with clients of all ages, creating an environment of fun and creativity.
Demonstrate and instruct party participants in craft projects.
Perform face painting and other event activities.
Facilitate and implement party add-ons such as goody bags and balloons according to company standards.
Communicate event details with clients and store team members.
Complete administrative tasks such as answering emails, making phone calls, and completing paperwork.
Adjust plans and events based on client feedback and needs.
Create backup or emergency plans as needed.
Ensure client satisfaction for scheduled events.
Uphold company cleanliness and safety standards.
Set up, break down, and clean before and after each event.
Help customers shop, locate products, and provide solutions.
Provide a fast and friendly checkout experience.
Engage customers on benefits of Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards and complete enrollments.
Educate customers on Voice of Customer (VOC) survey.
Assist with Omni channel processes, including Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS) and Ship From Store (SFS).
Participate in truck un-load, stocking, and planogram (POGs) processes.
Complete merchandise recovery and maintenance.
Perform Store in Stock Optimization (SISO) and AD set duties as assigned.
Support shrink and safety programs.
Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Company programs.
Interact with others in an accepting and respectful manner.
Cross train in Custom Framing selling and production.
Participate in daily store cleanliness activities.
