About The Position

The Party Chief is responsible for the overall management of the survey crew, works under the direction of the Project Manager and Construction Manager, serves as client liaison, is responsible for the safety of the crew and equipment, manages computations, and maintains safety standards. This role actively supports the Company’s commitment to safety and its Core Values, always representing the Company with high moral standards while adhering to the Company’s Code of Business Conduct and Ethics. Responsibilities include various types of construction stake out projects and topographic surveys. The Party Chief performs mathematical calculations for field checking data, takes accurate and clear notes in the field, and reads and understands engineering drawings. They must know basic sources of measurement errors and principles of monumentation, staking, and marking. The role is responsible for the quality and performance of the survey crew, the maintenance of all Company equipment, and accurate completion of time and expenses. Daily submission of data and notes is required, as is meeting with clients and public landowners professionally. Flexibility and adaptability to change are essential. The Party Chief must identify safety hazards and take corrective action to eliminate or minimize them.

Requirements

  • 5 years working as a Party Chief Surveyor on a new construction site.
  • 1+ year(s) supervisory experience.
  • Proficient in managing crew, time, and costs.
  • Good leadership and communication skills.
  • Good understanding of Matrix Service policies and procedures.
  • Ability to complete Matrix Service Safety training, Process Safety Management training and Client / Site specific training.
  • Must obtain and maintain active status within the required drug testing program.
  • Must Pass a Background Check.
  • Must be able to hear, speak, understand and communicate effectively.
  • Must be capable of working outside in the elements including but not limited to the heat, cold, rain, snow and wind.
  • Must be able to work for long periods of times up to 12 hours a day.
  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves and steel-toe boots.
  • Must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
