About The Position

This role involves leading a survey field crew, collecting and processing survey data, and performing layouts according to established procedures. The Party Chief will supervise and train team members, work outdoors in various weather conditions, and potentially work at elevations on structures. Responsibilities include marking points, staking for excavation, operating survey instruments, compiling notes, communicating with engineers and supervisors, and adhering to project timelines and safety protocols. The role also involves assisting with control establishment, reviewing drawings, performing calculations, and handling materials and equipment.

Requirements

  • Experience operating survey instruments.
  • Ability to collect survey data.
  • Ability to perform layouts.
  • Ability to mark points of measurement with elevation, station number, or other identifying mark.
  • Ability to carry and set stakes.
  • Ability to clear brush from survey lines.
  • Ability to stake and grade for excavation.
  • Ability to compile notes, sketches, and records of data obtained, and work performed.
  • Ability to communicate with Field Engineers and Supervisors.
  • Ability to work under time constraints.
  • Adaptability to changing conditions.
  • Ability to assist in establishing horizontal and vertical control for the project.
  • Ability to review design drawings for correct data.
  • Ability to perform and check calculations.
  • Ability to load, transport and unload materials, tools, equipment, and supplies.
  • Ability to perform minor maintenance or cleaning activities on tools and equipment.
  • Ability to assist in lifting, positioning and securing materials and work pieces during installation.

Responsibilities
