The Party and Event Host is responsible for planning, coordinating, and facilitating various events, including children's birthday parties and craft classes, within a Michaels store. The primary goal is to provide a stress-free, fun, and engaging experience for guests of all ages. This involves demonstrating and instructing craft projects, performing face painting, and managing party add-ons like goody bags and balloons. The role also includes administrative tasks such as email correspondence, phone calls, and paperwork, as well as adapting plans based on client feedback and creating emergency plans. Ensuring client satisfaction and upholding cleanliness and safety standards are crucial. Beyond event coordination, the host provides general customer service, assists customers with shopping and product location, and ensures a fast and friendly checkout experience. They are expected to engage customers about the Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards, educate them on the Voice of Customer (VOC) survey, and assist with omnichannel processes like Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS) and Ship From Store (SFS). Operational duties include participating in truck unloads, stocking, planogram (POGs) processes, merchandise recovery and maintenance, Store in Stock Optimization (SISO), and AD set duties. The host supports shrink and safety programs, adheres to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and maintains a positive and respectful demeanor with team members and customers. Cross-training in Custom Framing selling and production, along with daily store cleanliness activities, are also part of the role.
