Parts Specialist
About The Position
The Parts Specialist provides retail and installer customers with a high level of service and supports store management in completing assigned tasks. The role includes assisting customers in person and by phone, processing transactions and returns, maintaining merchandise and store displays, and performing daily operational duties. After completing required training and meeting company requirements, the specialist may operate store test equipment and provide certain in-store vehicle services where permitted by state and local law. The position may occasionally require driving a delivery vehicle when business needs dictate. Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
Requirements
- Ability to quickly match alphanumeric sequences.
- Ability to provide outstanding, friendly, and professional customer service.
- Ability to multitask while handling customers by phone and in the store at the same time.
Nice To Haves
- Familiarity with automotive parts, cataloging, the Weatherly index system, and automotive sales or service.
- ASE certification.
- Fluency in multiple languages; Spanish is highly desired.
- Bilingual ability; bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities
- Follow and promote company customer service programs, including Hi-5, Low Price Guarantee, Rock the Call, Related Selling, and Rock the Lot.
- Greet retail and walk-in customers promptly and courteously, and help them select merchandise.
- Assist managers and installer service specialists with serving professional customers as directed.
- Complete company training relevant to the position.
- Answer store phone calls according to company policy; look up parts and quote prices accurately, recommend premium and related items, and offer the Low-Price Guarantee.
- Maintain and secure the cash drawer; accept cash and checks, make change accurately, and process credit card transactions.
- Process exchanges and returns in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Address and resolve customer complaints in a friendly manner.
- Assist with daily image-maker and planogram updates, freight receiving, stocking shelves, fronting and facing merchandise, and cleaning.
- Prepare new, core, and warranty merchandise returns for shipment to the distribution center; assist with monthly stock adjustments and inventory cycle counts.
- Operate the brake lathe and other store test equipment after completing corresponding training and meeting company requirements.
- Perform in-store customer services where allowed by state and local law, such as installing wipers, testing and charging batteries, testing charging systems, scanning vehicle trouble codes, and replacing headlight capsules.
- Occasionally drive a delivery vehicle when business needs dictate, provided driving eligibility requirements are met.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
