About The Position

This role involves front counter sales in a parts department, focusing on customer service, generating sales, and managing various administrative tasks related to parts sales and returns. The position requires proactive selling, accurate cash handling, and adherence to dealership policies regarding parts sales, returns, and warranties.

Requirements

  • Stand and walk for up to 4 continuous hours per day.
  • Remain in a stationary, seated position for up to 4 continuous hours per day.
  • Traverse the department and/or dealership for up to 6 continuous hours per day.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequently reach, bend, push and pull.
  • Ascend and descend stairs and move items up to 25 lbs.
  • Ascend and descend a ladder and move up to 10 lbs.
  • Move items up to 50 lbs.
  • Communicate and exchange accurate information.
  • Inspect and recognize.
  • Operate a computer.

  • Sell products related to the primary part a customer needs, avoiding the role of an 'order taker'.

Responsibilities

  • Generate a minimum of sales per month.
  • Fill customer needs at the counter.
  • Acknowledge new customers when a line forms and inform them of wait times.
  • Perform 'Will Call' tasks when demand exceeds the designated Will Call person's capability.
  • Do not receive damaged parts for credit; customers must purchase new parts, and credit is issued only if the OEM determines the part is warrantable.
  • Check own core returns and consult with seasoned Counterpersons if unsure.
  • Act as a cashier, ensuring accuracy in the cash drawer.
  • Collect and return driver's licenses for customers using a dolly.
  • Sell products related to the primary part a customer needs, avoiding the role of an 'order taker'.
  • Share Inside Sales functions including Will Call and Front Counter Person duties.
  • Ensure all pertinent paperwork (invoice, credit card, etc.) is signed by the customer.
  • Type pertinent information on the invoice note section (e.g., delivery times, PO requirements, core pickups).
  • Collect payment for freight immediately after placing the part on a ticket; freight is billed out and requires Parts Manager authorization for removal.
  • Collect 100% down payment for ordered parts at the time of order.
  • Charge all customers a 10% restocking fee.
  • Make daily phone calls to assigned accounts.
  • Return parts to their assigned places when returned.
  • Move dirty cores to the designated area, documenting paperwork immediately.
  • Move warranty parts to the designated area, documenting paperwork immediately.
