About The Position

The primary role of the Parts Sales Associate is to maintain and control boat, motor, trailer, and ATV parts inventory. This role also involves assisting external and internal customers with parts purchases and inquiries, ensuring a strong commitment to world-class customer service and a pleasant shopping experience. The associate will handle customer inquiries via phone or at the parts counter, research parts using various resources, and process sales transactions. Responsibilities include safeguarding funds, performing till reconciliations, creating purchase orders, receiving and verifying parts shipments, and entering received parts into the inventory tracking system. The associate will also place received merchandise in designated locations, verify payment for special order parts, issue parts to technicians, and track parts inventory in the system. Additionally, the role involves processing refund transactions, managing returned and warranty parts, conducting physical inventories, reconciling inventory variances, and maintaining a clean work area. All other duties as assigned are also part of the role.

Requirements

  • High School education or equivalent experience
  • Ability to calculate figures such as discounts or percentages and make change to customers
  • Ability to communicate in a friendly and professional manner to customers and other associates
  • Good phone etiquette
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Management, coworkers, and customers
  • Ability to operate computer and perform data entry functions
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Able to stand for extended periods

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and control boat, motor, trailer, and ATV parts inventory.
  • Assist external and internal customers with parts purchases and inquiries.
  • Provide a pleasant and productive shopping experience for all customers.
  • Receive inquiries from customers requesting retail parts, price quotes, or general information.
  • Research customer inquiries using Internet sites, manufacturer contact, or on-site reference materials.
  • Perform part sales transactions either on the phone or at the parts counter.
  • Safeguard funds received and perform till reconciliation procedures on a daily basis.
  • Create purchase orders to buy parts needed for stock, customer, or work order requirements and forward orders to appropriate vendors.
  • Receive parts ordered and check shipping documents against merchandise/quantities received for accuracy.
  • Perform data entry of parts received into the inventory tracking system.
  • Place merchandise received in designated locations for easy retrieval.
  • Verify and validate receipt of payment in full before special order parts are shipped.
  • Issue parts to technicians and riggers as per work order requirements and enter issued parts on work orders in the system to track parts inventory.
  • Verify and complete refund transactions on returned parts or cancellations.
  • Ensure returned and warranty parts are sent back to the appropriate vendor and credit is received.
  • Prepare for and conduct required parts inventories as per established schedules.
  • Report and reconcile any inventory shortages or parts variances resulting from physical inventory.
  • Maintain a clean and professional work area.
