About The Position

Orders and maintains balanced parts inventory with timely turnaround for the Fleet Maintenance Operation. Requires the ability to stock, organize, inventory, issue, label and control parts and tools entering and leaving the parts room. Work is performed under limited supervision of the Division Chief Mechanic and the Environmental Management Director.

Requirements

General knowledge of related industry, organization, and department policies, practices and procedures
General knowledge of standard office equipment
Ability to understand industry, organization, and departmental legal guides, recommendations, best practices, ordinance and laws
Ability to understand maintenance manuals, work orders, and part diagrams
Ability to understand maintenance reports, invoices, purchase orders, and shipping labels
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
Ability to make arithmetic computations using whole numbers, fractions and decimals
Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with technicians and supervisors
Ability to operate light automotive vehicles safely.
High school diploma or GED and three to five years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Favorable background history as determined by review of local, State and Federal records.
Valid driver’s license in the State of Georgia with a favorable driving history (MVR).
Must learn Fleet software within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

Forecasts part needs based upon fleet make-up.
Monitors the inventory of parts and supplies.
Orders parts to maintain satisfactory inventory levels.
Shops multiple vendors to find best quality and price.
Establishes periodic price comparisons when shopping for parts.
Receives, labels, and places parts in inventory.
Returns parts to vendors as needed.
Checks and reconciles invoices and account statements.
Collaborates with technicians to ensure all parts are available for repair jobs.
Encourages and promotes a culture of excellent service.
