About The Position

This position is responsible for controlling parts room inventory, identifying, ordering, cataloging, storing, accounting for, and issuing machine parts, supplies, and materials used by the division. The role involves maintaining the organization and cleanliness of the parts room, receiving shipments, ensuring order accuracy, and initiating/maintaining records for maintenance parts. The attendant will also consult with engineers and vendors as needed and participate as a member of the team, contributing to team concepts, programs, and policies. Familiarity with Simmons' operating systems, including quality, security, and office environment policies, is expected, along with an understanding of the impact of individual actions on these systems. The role also includes performing other duties as necessary to support business objectives.

Requirements

• Ability to work in a wet, noisy, dusty, humid, hot or cold environment that has an unpleasant odor.
• Ability to walk and stand for the entire shift.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Frequent pulling, pushing, and reaching.
• Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting.
• Ability to work from step ladders.
• Ability to work with various chemicals and identify and use PPE in accordance with MSDS/SDS sheets.
• Ability to read, write and speak English.
• Basic math skills.

Nice To Haves

• Preferred experience or knowledge in mechanical equipment, sources of supply, and parts catalog interpretation.
• High School Diploma or G.E.D.

Responsibilities

• Control parts room inventory, identify orders, catalog, store, account for, and issue parts and materials using software.
• Maintain organization and cleanliness of the parts room.
• Receive shipments of inventory and ensure orders are correct.
• Initiate and maintain all required records pertaining to maintenance parts.
• Consult with engineers/vendors as needed.
• Participate as a member of the Team, fostering strong cohesiveness and supporting team concepts, programs, and policies.
• Communicate concerns and improvement ideas regarding operating systems.
• Perform other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
