About The Position

Parts Pickup and Delivery Drivers may be assigned to either local or long-distance routes, or a combination of both, at the discretion of department management based on customer demand.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older to qualify as a full-time Parts Pickup and Delivery Driver and operate company vehicles on assigned routes.
  • Ability to meet company driving and insurance eligibility requirements.
  • Forklift certification or ability to become forklift certified upon hire.
  • Must successfully complete and maintain annual forklift certification as required by the company.
  • Basic knowledge of local streets and roads.
  • Ability to safely lift and move parts weighing 50 pounds or more.
  • Ability to work in a warehouse environment that is not temperature controlled.
  • Ability to accurately read and interpret pick tickets, invoices, delivery documentation, and customer orders.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and treat each customer and vendor with whom you come in contact in a professional, friendly manner.
  • Pick up and deliver parts in the dealership’s assigned area quickly, safely, and efficiently per dispatch instructions.
  • Work as part of an integrated team with parts salespeople, parts pullers, fellow delivery drivers, and management.
  • Pick, verify, check, and stage parts for customer orders by accurately matching parts to pick tickets, invoices, and delivery documentation prior to delivery or customer pickup.
  • Ensure all parts being delivered or picked up are accurate and complete.
  • Load, unload, move, and organize parts as necessary throughout the day.
  • Safely lift, carry, push, and pull parts and materials weighing 50 pounds or more, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Retrieve parts and accompanying invoices from the local delivery shelves.
  • Check in with Outside Parts Sales (OPS) prior to departing on each delivery run.
  • Check the OPS printer and invoice sorting area for pick tickets/parts that may need to be pulled for customers on your route.
  • Update local delivery whiteboard with destinations and departure time.
  • Coordinate with OPS to pull parts from pick tickets or invoices.
  • Coordinate with local delivery drivers if returning to the dealership before close of business to assist with any remaining local deliveries.
  • Load and unload delivery vehicles safely and efficiently.
  • Keep delivery vehicles clean and report any mechanical or safety concerns to the Assistant Parts Manager.
  • Process returned parts and cores appropriately upon returning to the dealership.
  • Maintain a safe, organized work area in both warehouse and delivery operations.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform vehicle inspections and submit inspection forms to the Assistant Parts Manager.
  • Pull parts from warehouse locations for delivery if marked on pick tickets or invoices.
  • Assist with inventory movement, stocking, warehouse organization, and general warehouse duties as directed.
  • Perform any other duties required to successfully accomplish the role of Delivery Driver or support the needs of the department.
  • Special projects on an as-needed basis.
  • Determine the safety of roads and highways and make sound decisions regarding drivability.
  • Determine the safety and operational condition of company vehicles and make appropriate decisions regarding vehicle operation.
