About The Position

The Parts Outside Sales position involves visiting assigned customers, prospecting for new customers, acting as a public relations liaison for the dealership, and following up on parts orders to ensure customer satisfaction. This role requires strong communication skills, knowledge of truck parts, and the ability to manage customer relationships effectively.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information
Ability to communicate well orally and in writing with customers, vendors, and other contacts
Professional personal appearance and dress
Knowledge of truck parts
Ability to judge when emergency purchases are and are not justified
Ability to coordinate orders with parts advisors
Valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets company criteria
Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOT Driver Medical certification
Willingness to submit to a background check
Willingness to submit to a post-offer drug screen

Will be trained on dealership’s parts inventory system

Responsibilities

Visit assigned customers
Prospect for new customers
Act as a public relations liaison for the dealership
Follow up on parts orders to ensure that customers have been served properly
Communicate parts orders to parts advisors, advising on stock or emergency status
Advise parts advisor on delivery instructions, ensuring same-day delivery requests are submitted by 8 am
Verify customer acceptance of delivery dates for non-stock items before ordering
Turn in call reports along with time sheets
Review special orders with the Outside Sales Manager and obtain approval
Obtain Outside Parts Sales Manager’s approval for any special pricing
Attend training seminars when possible
Coordinate service sales with service salespeople
Advise Outside Sales Manager of changes in customers’ names, addresses, etc.
