About The Position

The Parts Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the dealership's Parts Department, ensuring optimal inventory levels, profitability, customer satisfaction, and support for the service department. This role leads parts personnel, manages vendor relationships, and ensures efficient processes that align with Sonic Automotive's standards for operational excellence and customer service.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of automotive parts management experience, preferably within a franchised dealership environment.
  • Strong knowledge of automotive parts inventory systems, manufacturer programs, and dealership operations.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop teams while fostering a positive and performance-driven work environment.
  • Demonstrated success in managing inventory levels, controlling expenses, and achieving profitability goals.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Proficiency with dealership management systems (DMS), inventory software, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Ability to successfully complete pre-employment requirements, including background check, motor vehicle record (MVR) review, and drug screening.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of the Parts Department, including inventory control, purchasing, pricing, and merchandising.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels to meet customer and service department demands while minimizing obsolescence.
  • Develop and implement strategies to maximize departmental sales, gross profit, and overall performance.
  • Lead, train, coach, and evaluate parts department staff to achieve operational and customer service goals.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with manufacturers, vendors, and internal dealership departments.
  • Monitor departmental financial performance, prepare reports, and ensure compliance with company policies and manufacturer standards.
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of parts orders, returns, warranty claims, and inventory audits.
