About The Position

The main purpose of this position is to provide effective parts and equipment support for company vehicle maintenance programs. This role involves managing an inventory program encompassing parts, consumables, lubricants, tires and equipment items, and coordinating interdepartmental interface for maximum efficiency and productivity. The Parts Manager is also responsible for conducting training programs for subordinates and outside terminal counterparts, and supervising a workforce of three to fifteen employees. Responsibilities

  • Provide effective parts and equipment support for company vehicle maintenance programs
  • Manage an inventory program encompassing parts, consumables, lubricants, tires and equipment items
  • Coordinate interdepartmental interface for maximum efficiency and productivity
  • Conduct training programs for subordinates and outside terminal counterparts
  • Supervise a work force of three to fifteen employees
  • Monitor and enforce company dress codes
  • Counsel employees
  • Interview potential employees
  • Process requests for hire/termination and payroll/salary change requests
  • Establish work schedules
  • Monitor and approve vacation/time off schedules
  • Monitor workmen’s compensation program actions
  • Establish and maintain employee record files
  • Manage the inventory control program
  • Supervise work
  • Prepare performance evaluations
  • Review and monitor management reports and initiate actions where necessary
  • Conduct and perform interface with accounting department
  • Purchase items from vendors/sources
  • Approve vendor invoices for payment
  • Coordinate purchasing data with vendors
  • Obtain pricing data from vendors
  • Resolve invoice errors/discrepancies with vendors
  • Conduct/perform interface with MIS regarding computer support, report preparation and program modification requirements/proposals
  • Coordinate material/parts requirements with Tractor/Trailer manufacturers to insure availability of items to meet production/delivery schedules
  • Coordinate with company maintenance officials regarding parts requirements/availability to insure positive support posture
  • Perform assistance visits to outside locations as directed
  • Identify/monitor and conduct training for employees on job requirements, assignments, procedures and responsibilities
