About The Position

The primary responsibility of this position is the overall control over the physical parts inventory and profitability of the parts department. This role involves supervising the Parts Department staff to provide the highest level of service to counter, wholesale, and service department customers. The Parts Manager is responsible for maintaining internal controls to prevent shortages and obsolescence, conducting perpetual inventory checks and annual counts, and setting policies for special ordering of parts. Additionally, the role involves developing marketing strategies to increase sales and gross profit, approving stock orders and general purchases, and collaborating with the service manager to set goals for service levels and stock order performance. The Parts Manager will also develop an approved vendor list, assist the accounting office with past due accounts, and create pricing matrices and economic ordering criteria to maximize gross profit. Analyzing sales, gross expense, and inventory monthly is crucial to maintaining profit goals. The position also requires enforcing safety precautions and other assigned responsibilities.

Requirements

  • High School Education or equivalent
  • 3-5 years parts department experience
  • Valid driver’s license without restrictions that affects your ability to operate company owned vehicle(s) and ability to maintain a clean driving record.
  • Previous inventory management or related management experience preferred
  • Good interpersonal, time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to identify and achieve targeted goals
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to understand verbal and written instructions and warning labels
  • Ability to work well with a range of individuals
  • Ability to prioritize multiple jobs
  • Ability to clearly communicate with customers and coworkers alike to ensure an excellent customer experience
  • Ability to work independently and/or as part of a team
  • Ability to effectively respond to inbound and outbound phone calls
  • Strong attention to detail, professional demeanor, and a positive ‘can do’ attitude'
  • Must be able to pass a drug/alcohol urinalysis and be able to drive a vehicle

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the Parts Department staff to provide the highest level of service to counter, wholesale, and service department customers
  • Maintain internal controls to prevent shortages and obsolescence
  • Maintain perpetual inventory checks and annual counts per management guidelines
  • Set and maintain a policy on special ordering of parts
  • Develop marketing strategies to increase sales and gross profit using coop advertising funds whenever possible
  • Approve stock orders and general purchases within management guidelines
  • Develop goals with the service manager for level of service and stock order performance
  • Create an approved vendor list optimizing the best purchase discounts and return programs
  • Assist the accounting office with the collection of past due accounts
  • Develop pricing matrixes and economic ordering criteria to maximize gross profit without sacrificing sales
  • Analyze sales, gross expense, and inventory on a monthly basis to maintain profit goals
  • Uses personal device to provide an additional layer of security for company network and site access through multi-factor authentication.
  • Enforce safety precautions specific to work area
