About The Position

The Parts Inventory Control Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of a company's inventory. This includes monitoring inventory levels, implementing efficient inventory management systems, analyzing data to make informed decisions, and collaborating with various departments to optimize the supply chain. The primary goal is to ensure accurate stock levels, minimize carrying costs, prevent stockouts or overstocks, and improve the overall operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • 2-year degree in Business, or equivalent work experience
  • Superior organization, problem solving and analytical skills
  • Must be acutely aware of the balance relationship that exists between inventory carrying costs and acceptable customer service levels
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced multi-tasking environment managing multiple projects/priorities to meet specific goals and deadlines
  • An above average computer comfort level to work with Excel, MS Outlook, and experience working in a Windows environment
  • Requires a valid driver’s license and the ability to maintain an insurable driving record
  • Travel required
  • Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively both orally and written to all levels of employees
  • Attain short- and long-term objectives through good management and planning
  • Strong mathematical skills necessary
  • Should be personable, highly motivated, a problem solver, ethical, and able to adapt to all forces around them – customers, suppliers, coworkers, and manufacturers
  • Should have solid equipment and parts knowledge
  • Must have a positive mental attitude, self-motivated, goal oriented, highly energetic, positive, and outgoing

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of inventory control specialists
  • Conduct training to ensure staff competency in inventory management procedures
  • Regularly monitor and update inventory levels to ensure accuracy
  • Implement and maintain effective inventory tracking systems and software
  • Conduct regular physical inventory counts and reconcile variances
  • Analyze historical data and market trends to forecast future demand
  • Collaborate with sales, parts and service teams to develop accurate demand forecasts
  • Place orders with suppliers based on demand forecasts and reorder points
  • Negotiate with suppliers to secure favorable terms, pricing, and delivery schedules
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers
  • Implement strategies to optimize inventory turnover and reduce carrying costs
  • Identify slow-moving or obsolete inventory and recommend appropriate actions
  • Implement just-in-time (JIT) inventory principles when applicable
  • Continuously evaluate and improve inventory management processes
  • Identify opportunities for automation to streamline workflows
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Director of Parts
