The Parts Counter Associate is responsible for selling parts to all customers, over the counter, through the shop, or on the phone. This role involves assisting customers in selecting required parts in a friendly, professional, and efficient manner, informing them of companion part requirements and specials, and ensuring they are exposed to the full product line. The associate will also handle incoming phone calls and counter inquiries, provide price quotes, review body shop estimates to ensure correct parts and pricing, pull and fill orders from stock, and notify the parts manager of out-of-stock items. Additionally, they will inform necessary parties when special ordered parts arrive, pull orders ensuring parts are tagged correctly, follow department policies for special ordering and aging, follow up on back-ordered parts, replenish inventory daily, maintain a timely flow of paperwork, ensure internal requests are billed correctly, and verify will-call and back-order files weekly. The role also includes assisting outside sales representatives with their orders and receiving payments from retail customers or obtaining credit authorization.
