Parts Clerk
About The Position
The Parts Clerk is responsible for managing inventory, including receiving, inspecting, stocking, and issuing parts and supplies. This role involves maintaining accurate inventory records, coordinating with suppliers, and ensuring parts are readily available for operational needs. The Parts Clerk will also handle documentation of transactions, manage damaged or defective items, and operate forklift equipment. Communication with supervisors and coworkers is a key aspect of this position, as is performing general physical activities related to stockroom tasks. A good understanding of the machinery and automotive industry, particularly diesel equipment, is beneficial.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Strong organizational and detail-oriented skills for accurate inventory management.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for customer and technician interactions.
- Technical knowledge of parts and components relevant to the industry.
- Proficiency with inventory management systems and basic computer skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with suppliers, technicians, and internal teams.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Must be punctual and available for job tasks.

Responsibilities
- Receive, inspect, and stock incoming parts and supplies, verifying quantities and specifications against purchase orders.
- Maintain accurate records of inventory.
- Perform regular stock checks.
- Organize parts in storage areas to ensure items are easily accessible and properly labeled.
- Issue parts to technicians and document transactions in inventory systems.
- Prepare orders for replenishment and monitor inventory levels.
- Coordinate with suppliers to prevent shortages and ensure parts availability.
- Maintain records and reports of inventories, price lists, shortages, shipments, expenditures, and goods used or issued.
- Maintain accurate records of damaged/used parts and process appropriate dispositions.
- Drive fork-lift equipment/truck to pick up incoming stock or deliver parts.
- Provide information when communicating with Supervisors or co-workers by telephone, in written form, email or in person.
- Dispose of damaged or defective items, or return them to the vendor.
- Perform general physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and whole body movements while handling stockroom parts.
