Parts Clerk

Turner Mining Group•Schoharie, NY
•Onsite

About The Position

This role keeps the right parts in the right place so maintenance can restore production safely and quickly. You will run the storeroom as a control point for uptime, cost, and safety—not as a shelf of spare parts waiting to be counted. You will work on-site in a production storeroom supporting maintenance for heavy process equipment in cement, aggregates, or ready-mixed concrete operations. You report to the maintenance or plant leadership team and partner daily with mechanics, planners, purchasing, and vendors. You will use the site’s computerized maintenance and inventory system, standard catalogs, and established purchasing channels. The role includes a defined parts budget, approved vendor list, and safety procedures—not a blank check and not a paper-only cage.

Requirements

  • Proven storeroom or parts experience in manufacturing, heavy equipment, construction materials, or a comparable industrial setting.
  • Hands-on use of an inventory or CMMS system to receive, issue, count, and reconcile parts against work orders.
  • Ability to read part numbers, equipment manuals, and bills of material well enough to match the right component without guesswork.
  • Working knowledge of min/max, critical spares, and lead times, with a record of preventing avoidable stockouts.
  • Comfort with forklifts or other powered equipment where required, and a consistent safety record in an industrial workplace.
  • Clear written updates and the discipline to close transactions the same day they happen.

Responsibilities

  • Issue the correct part to the correct work order on the first request.
  • Hold inventory accuracy at or above the site target through disciplined receiving, putaway, cycle counts, and documented adjustments.
  • Identify critical and long-lead parts before stockouts, and place replenishment so planned outages are not extended by missing components.
  • Receive, inspect, and stage inbound parts the same shift they arrive, flagging damage, shortages, and wrong shipments before they enter inventory.
  • Reduce obsolete, duplicate, and slow-moving stock by recommending min/max changes and returns that free cash without raising downtime risk.
  • Keep the storeroom orderly, labeled, and compliant with site safety rules, including hazardous materials handling and lockout support practices.
  • Give supervisors a clear weekly picture of backorders, critical lows, and parts delaying open work orders.
