About The Position

The Parts Advisor role is responsible for issuing parts and supplies to technicians in a cost-effective and efficient manner. This includes issuing purchase orders, ensuring parts are bought from the lowest cost provider, stocking and issuing parts, delivering parts to bays, and managing inventory controls. The role also involves reviewing warranty tags, charging parts to repair orders, reporting discrepancies, and potentially loading/unloading trucks and driving heavy vehicles. Requirements

  • Parts experience helpful.
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Computer keyboarding
  • Valid driver’s license
  • General knowledge of the city
  • Must be Forklift Certified.
  • Position requires lifting over 50 lbs, bending, twisting, walking to and from the shop bays to deliver parts.
  • May be required to drive, back, and park class 8 vehicles.
  • May also be required to operate a forklift for loading and unloading delivery trucks.

Responsibilities

  • Issue parts and supplies to technicians in the most cost effective and efficient manner possible.
  • Issue purchase orders per company guidelines to approved parts suppliers.
  • Ensure parts are purchased from the lowest cost provider.
  • Stock parts and issue parts to technicians and Swift drivers when needed.
  • Deliver parts to designated bays and pick up return parts.
  • Ensure parts are charged out to repair orders and maintain inventory controls.
  • Review return part warranty tags and ensure they are accurate, and the part is stored and organized so it can be returned to the supplier or for core if they are not requested by the supplier.
  • Ensure parts are charged to owner operators and customers through the maintenance Repair Order system.
  • Report shortages, overages, and pricing discrepancies immediately to the Parts Manager and Service Manager.
  • May be required to load and unload suppliers delivery trucks by hand and with a fork lift.
  • May be required to drive, back, and park class 8 vehicles as required to run the shop efficiently.
  • Other duties as assigned.
