Partner Development Manager

Compu DynamicsChantilly, VA
$120,000 - $170,000Hybrid

About The Position

The Partner Development Manager builds, expands, and maintains Compu Dynamics' national network of subcontractor and vendor partners, with a focus on primary data center markets such as Northern Virginia/Ashburn, Dallas–Fort Worth, Phoenix, and other growing hubs. This means growing the partner bench, expanding into new regional markets as the business grows, and strengthening the relationships we already have. The goal is simple: make sure that when a bid lands in a given market, we already have qualified, vetted partners in place across every trade, rather than scrambling to find them. You will own the full partner relationship, from finding and qualifying new partners to developing those relationships and tracking how partners perform over time. You will work closely with our Sales, Estimating, and Operations teams, and stay ahead of upcoming work so partners are ready before bids are due.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in construction, subcontractor/vendor management, business development, or supply chain, ideally in commercial, mission-critical, or data center construction.
  • Demonstrated success building and managing relationships across a distributed network of trade partners.
  • Working knowledge of construction trades, prequalification, insurance/bonding, and the estimating/bid process.
  • Strong organization and follow-through, and comfortable owning a CRM/database and driving action items to closure.
  • Willingness to travel up to 40–50% and work across time zones.

Nice To Haves

  • Existing relationships with subcontractors in primary data center markets.
  • Familiarity with data center / critical facility scopes and schedules.
  • Experience supporting a fast-turn estimating environment.

Responsibilities

  • Map Compu Dynamics' active and target markets against the current partner bench to identify geographic and trade gaps, prioritizing primary data center cities.
  • Proactively source, research, and prospect new subcontractor partners in markets where the company bids or anticipates bidding.
  • Maintain a live coverage map showing, by market and by trade, where the company has depth, single-source exposure, or no coverage at all.
  • Attend industry events, trade associations, and regional networking to build a pipeline of prospective partners ahead of demand.
  • Ensure at least two to three qualified partners per critical trade in each priority market, including electrical, mechanical/HVAC, fire protection, structural/steel, controls/BMS, plumbing, low-voltage, and specialty data center scopes.
  • Track single-source and no-source trades as active risks and drive them to resolution.
  • Rapidly source and qualify new partners when a bid surfaces a trade or market with no existing coverage.
  • Serve as the estimating team's go-to resource when a bid requires partner coverage in a specific market or trade.
  • Feed the daily bid huddle process, surfacing available partners, flagging gaps, and taking ownership of “no sub identified” and “sub not responding” action items with clear owners and dates.
  • Turn recurring bid-time gaps into permanent additions to the partner bench, so the same scramble does not repeat on the next bid.
  • Partner with estimators and operations to confirm that identified partners can realistically price and perform the scope and schedule in question.
  • Own the partner qualification and prequalification process: financial stability, bonding capacity, licensing, safety record (EMR/OSHA), references, and relevant data center / mission-critical experience.
  • Verify and maintain current insurance certificates, licenses, and compliance documentation, coordinating with risk/legal as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, current partner database as the single source of truth on qualification status, coverage, and contacts.
  • Build and sustain trusted, long-term relationships with partner principals and key contacts, not just transactional, bid-by-bid contact.
  • Serve as the primary relationship owner and point of escalation between Compu Dynamics and its partners.
  • Conduct regular check-ins with priority partners to understand their capacity, appetite, geographic reach, and evolving capabilities.
  • Represent Compu Dynamics as a contractor of choice, ensuring partners prioritize the company's bids and projects.
  • Track partner performance across bids and projects: responsiveness, pricing competitiveness, quality, schedule reliability, and safety.
  • Maintain performance history and feedback loops with estimating and operations to inform which partners are prioritized on future work.
  • Address underperformance directly and manage partners on and off the active bench as warranted.
  • Report regularly to leadership on network health: coverage by market and trade, gaps, risks, and pipeline.
  • Provide feedback to partners to help improve performance over time.
