About The Position

This position involves assisting in providing commissary operations and services to assigned KCN Commissary locations within correctional facilities. The role includes delivering individually packaged orders to inmates, ensuring vending machines are stocked and maintained, and managing inventory. The schedule is Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 8 am to 1 pm, with Wednesdays off. There are 4 positions available in Santa Clarita.

Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
• Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
• Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
• Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Valid Photo ID.
• Must be a self-starter who can work well with people in a correctional facility in a professional, upbeat manner.
• Ability to work in a correctional environment.
• Ability to work well with ever changing priorities and/or situations.
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs.

Nice To Haves

• Familiarity with computers (including Microsoft Office programs) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver individually packaged orders to inmates at specified correctional facilities under the supervision of a correctional officer.
• Positively identify the inmate and obtain their signature on the order receipt.
• Retain and dispose of plastic bags and trash generated during the delivery process.
• Account for all signed receipts.
• Fill vending machines, ensuring they are full and product is properly rotated.
• Maintain and clean vending machines.
• Take readings from machines and count money from vending machines.
• Reconcile discrepancies and keep the manager informed of needed supplies.
• Maintain records of discarded product and report to management.
• Maintain inventory in all vending machines.
• Send required information and reports, including timesheets, to the Regional Distribution Center.
• Maintain all KCN areas, equipment, and products in a neat, clean, and orderly manner, adhering to American Correctional Association & American Jail Association standards when applicable.
• Attend orientation and training, including annual on-site security classes, and remain current in certifications as required by the Facility.
• Follow all policies and procedures outlined in the KCN Best Business Practices Guide.
• Complete miscellaneous duties assigned by the KCN Commissary Manager.
• Complete other duties as assigned.
