About The Position

NextCare Urgent Care is seeking a Part-Time Physician to join our Thornton, Colorado clinic. This role is ideal for a physician who enjoys autonomy, variety, and the fast pace of urgent care. You will provide full-scope care to patients of all ages while working alongside a supportive operational and medical leadership team. This position may also include formal supervising physician responsibilities for assigned APPs, including Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners, in accordance with Colorado state requirements and NextCare policies. Requirements

  • Active and unrestricted Colorado medical license
  • Active DEA
  • Medical Doctor or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine
  • Completed residency in Family Medicine or Emergency Medicine
  • Current board certification in Family Medicine or Emergency Medicine
  • Active BLS
  • Comfortable treating all ages, pediatrics through geriatrics
  • Proficient with EHR systems
  • DOT certification may be required; NextCare will provide training if needed
  • Ability to work occasional weekends or holidays depending on clinic needs
  • Willingness to supervise or collaborate with APPs in accordance with Colorado requirements and NextCare policy

Responsibilities

  • Provide evidence-based evaluation and treatment of urgent care and occupational medicine patients
  • Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care aligned with NextCare’s mission and values
  • Communicate diagnoses, treatment plans, and next steps clearly and confidently
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation in our electronic health record
  • Maintain productivity consistent with urgent care standards
  • Supervise APPs, including Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners, according to state and organizational guidelines
  • Support required supervision or collaboration agreements, as applicable
  • Complete required chart review, documentation, and evaluations
  • Provide prescribing oversight and clinical guidance when required
  • Practice safely, ethically, and professionally at all times
  • The physician may be formally assigned to supervise or collaborate with a defined group of APPs. Oversight expectations are clearly defined, documented, and aligned with Colorado state requirements and NextCare policy.

  • Periodic performance evaluations
  • Collaboration with medical leadership, operations, and credentialing
  • Be available during normal clinic operating hours for clinical questions, escalations, prescribing questions, and scope-of-practice guidance. Availability does not mean being on call 24/7. It means reliable, predictable responsiveness during normal clinic hours.
