About The Position

Pullen Arts Center is currently accepting applications from artists who have experience teaching pottery to kids. We are seeking Teaching Artists who have a passion for their medium and are excited to share their love of clay and the creative process with young artists.

Requirements

  • Experience teaching pottery to kids.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes weekend classes.
  • Ability to develop curriculum for classes and identify supply/equipment needs.
  • Ability to work with students with a wide range of artistic experience levels and abilities and with a wide range of personality types.
  • Ability to be supportive and encouraging to students, meeting each student where they are in their artistic development.
  • Ability to provide and deliver an inclusive experience to the arts and creativity.
  • Ability to communicate with front desk staff and center Director/Assistant Director.
  • Ability to assist in making sure the studio is operating safely and efficiently.
  • Must complete required PRCR training.

Responsibilities

  • Interacts with participants in a positive, caring, and respectful manner throughout the program hours.
  • Creates lesson plans; communicates necessary supplies with Pullen Arts Center staff.
  • Prepares studio/program area with necessary equipment and returns all equipment to proper storage.
  • Maintains a happy, safe environment.
  • Ensures that all participants are adequately supervised at all times.
  • Enforces safety rules, guidelines, and policies of the Arts Center.
  • Actively engages, orients, and assists all participants.
  • Promotes a professional image and always maintains a clean and safe environment.
