About The Position

The Pet Valu family of stores includes Pet Valu, Paulmac's Pet Food, Bosley's, Tisol and Total Pet and together we are one of the largest retail operations in North America dedicated to providing families with food and supplies for dogs, cats, companion birds, wild birds, fish, reptiles and small animals. All of our stores are dedicated to helping local pets in need, and we partner with local shelters, rescues and charities for adoption events, in-store adoption (select stores only) and pet food bank programs, as well as through our national donation drives and fundraising campaigns. As a Sales Associate you will use your knowledge and experience to help Pet Parents find the right nutrition and other solutions for their pets. Requirements

• Available typical retail business hours, including evenings and weekends - including holidays if required
• Pet knowledge is mandatory.
• Be able to lift 45lbs repeatedly. Deliveries come at least twice a week and they consist of lots of large heavy bags that must be moved from outside and neatly put on the shelf.
• Have reliable transportation to and from work
• All employees will receive in store training.
• You will also be responsible for completing a mandatory online certification program.
• Please consider if you have any severe allergies to pets. We frequently have animals in the building.
• You will also come into contact with all sorts of proteins while stocking shelves (eg. fish, peanuts)

Nice To Haves

• Pet experience is a huge asset.
• Customer service experience is an asset but you MUST have great people skills, we pride ourselves on our customer service.

Responsibilities

• Serving customers - both at the till and in regards to product and pet concerns
• Providing product carry ups & carry outs
• Answering phone calls
• Cleaning (sweeping, dusting, tidying, sterilizing self-serve dog wash)
• Unloading deliveries
• Stocking shelves
• Looking after the store pet
• Re-merchandising where appropriate
• Day to day functions of the store
• Supporting other duties and requests made by management
