Requirements

• Completion of ninth grade (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
• Ability to read and comprehend.
• Ability to speak, understand, and follow specific oral instructions.
• Ability to communicate effectively using correct English.
• Continuous heavy manual work at a rapid pace.
• Requires moderate physical effort working regularly with light weight materials and occasionally with heavy weight materials (over 75 pounds).
• Must be able to perform tasks including but not limited to walking, talking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, bending, crouching, lifting, hoisting, pushing, and pulling.

Responsibilities

• Picks up refuse cans from houses or business establishments and dumps them into trucks.
• Operates packer equipment.
• Cleans the area around refuse cans.
• Directs traffic and guides the truck operator in congested areas.
• Cleans the refuse truck and equipment.
• Contributes to a positive work environment.
