About The Position
St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica School is seeking a caring, dependable, and joyful Part-Time Prekindergarten Aide to assist the lead teacher in creating a nurturing, structured, and faith-filled classroom environment. Our school is a Catholic learning community rooted in the spiritual and intellectual tradition of the Church, emphasizing wonder, joyful discovery, and virtue formation in our youngest students. The ideal candidate enjoys working with young children, supports their developmental needs, and is committed to Catholic education.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Patience, flexibility, and positive attitude
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Dependable and professional
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 25 lbs
- Ability to actively supervise young children indoors and outdoors
Nice To Haves
- Experience working with young children preferred
- School, childcare, church, or volunteer experience a plus
Responsibilities
- Assist with daily classroom routines and instructional activities
- Support students during centers, play, transitions, and outdoor activities
- Prepare and organize classroom materials
- Reinforce classroom expectations and routines
- Maintain classroom cleanliness and organization
- Ensure safety and well-being of all students
- Assist with restroom, hygiene, dressing, and meals/snacks
- Encourage independence and positive behavior
- Provide additional support to students as needed
- Promote attentiveness, order, and joyful learning
- Reinforce habits such as listening, courtesy, and perseverance
- Support imaginative play and hands-on learning
- Model patience, respect, and Christian values
- Help maintain an orderly, welcoming classroom
- Foster a peaceful, positive environment
- Model kindness, patience, and respect
- Participate in prayer and Catholic traditions
- Work cooperatively with teachers and staff
- Communicate student concerns appropriately
- Assist with events, classroom projects, and activities
