About The Position

The City of Folsom's Utilities Department is currently recruiting for a Part-Time Maintenance Worker to support the Waste & Recycling Division. The Waste and Recycling Division of the Utilities Department operates a residential door to door collection program for household hazardous waste by appointment. The current opening is primarily to assist with this program. The ideal candidate has training and experience with the proper handling of hazardous waste, including waste properties and necessary safety precautions. The program operates out of the city’s corporation yard.

Requirements

High school diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent to the completion of the 12th grade.
No experience is required.
Possession of, or the ability to obtain and retain, a California Class C driver license by the time of appointment.
Safe work practices.
Basic methods, tools, materials, and equipment used in grounds and facilities maintenance; and waste and recycling.
Routine cleaning and maintenance of grounds, and/or other facilities.
Operate a variety of hand and power tools safely and correctly.
Follow oral and written instructions.
Maintain simple records and logs.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Effectively communicate verbally and in writing.

Nice To Haves

Training and experience with the proper handling of hazardous waste, including waste properties and necessary safety precautions is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

Clean, label, assemble, and repair waste collection containers in the corporation yard and at customer locations.
Deliver and remove waste collection containers from customer locations.
Assist with collection and unloading of household hazardous waste and bulky waste.
Assist with loading and unloading event supplies, including setup and cleanup for the events.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
