About The Position

Hoot Reading is a leading online tutoring provider delivering 1:1, evidence-based literacy instruction through a network of qualified teachers. Partnering with K–12 school districts, educational organizations, and families across North America, Hoot provides high-impact tutoring and intervention during the school day, afterschool, and at home. Teachers at Hoot provide 1:1 Structured Literacy lessons over videocall inside an innovative tech platform that supports individualized assessment and instruction for each student, working with them exactly in the skill areas they need!

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in education (or equivalent) is required.
• 2+ years of K-6 teaching experience with a strong grasp of phonics, decoding and reading fundamentals.
• Tech-savvy with a reliable laptop, internet, and quiet workspace.
• Maintains professionalism and effectiveness while working with competing priorities and diverse student needs.
• Creates inclusive learning environments where students feel respected, valued, and supported.
• Demonstrates resilience and flexibility when addressing complex academic, behavioral, and social-emotional challenges.
• Can support lessons between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM CT, Monday through Thursday.
• Can offer consistent availability across multiple weekdays (Monday to Thursday).

Nice To Haves

• Experience supporting English learners and multilingual students is a plus.
