Part Time Lecturer (Art & Design)
About The Position
The School of Art & Design invites applications for Part-Time Lecturer positions in its undergraduate program for Winter 2027. Instructors may teach Art Education and potentially Studio Art, Design, Art Appreciation, and/or Simulation, Animation and Gaming. Depending on program needs, which vary in the regular Fall and Winter terms, lecturers may teach non-major studio art and art appreciation courses, studio art courses, and/or art history courses. Teaching obligations may include meeting with students during and outside assigned classes; assessing student work and performance; preparing syllabi and course materials; providing copies of syllabi and course materials to a supervisor upon request; and assigning and submitting grades according to established Eastern Michigan University schedules. Lecturers also perform related departmental duties as required. Appointments for each term are finalized by the School Director after consultation with area faculty.
Requirements
- Possess or be in the process of completing a terminal degree in the relevant field: an MFA for studio art and design courses or a PhD for Art History.
- For studio art courses, professional experience and higher-education teaching may be considered commensurate to a terminal degree.
Nice To Haves
- Prior teaching experience at the college level is strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
