About The Position

The School of Public Policy and Urban Affairs in Northeastern University’s College of Social Sciences and Humanities seeks part-time instructors to teach PPUA 6507: Institutional Leadership and the Public Manager at its Arlington, Virginia campus. This core graduate course examines problems and techniques involved in effectively managing a public agency in a complicated and often turbulent political environment. The course addresses legislative relations, media relations, the role of the courts, unions and advocacy groups, policy implementation and evaluation, and maintaining high standards of integrity. Instructors support the NASPAA-accredited Master of Public Administration program. Given the Arlington location, emphasis on federal agency leadership, congressional relations, and executive branch management challenges is particularly valuable. Teaching takes place in a traditional classroom, with evening classes designed to accommodate working professionals. Positions are available throughout the year, contingent upon enrollment, funding, and programmatic needs. Applicants must be able to maintain valid U.S. work authorization throughout the appointment without Northeastern University visa sponsorship. The rate is $2,085 per credit.
