About The Position

The Business Communication Program in the Department of Marketing at CSU Fullerton is seeking experienced writing instructors to teach courses in basic and advanced business communication. This is a pool of part-time lecturers for the department to draw on as necessary. Qualified applicants will be contacted when positions are available. Appointments from the part-time pool are temporary and often made just prior to the start of the academic term. Applicants must be available on very short notice.

Requirements

  • MA in English or related area, or an MBA with experience teaching writing skills in higher education.
  • Strong grasp of argumentation and logic.
  • Understanding of style and formatting requirements appropriate for the modern workplace.
  • Must be available on very short notice.
  • Complete online application.
  • Letter of interest or Cover Letter explaining expertise and what courses you are competent to teach and/or interested in teaching.
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV).
  • Three (3) required Letters of Recommendation.
  • Copy of your unofficial transcripts conferring your highest terminal degree.
  • Inclusive Excellence Statement (no more than 500 words).
  • Three letters of recommendation (before official hire).
  • Official transcripts from the institution’s Registrar’s office emailed to: [email protected] (before official hire).
  • Satisfactory background check.
  • Disclosure of any final administrative or judicial decision determining that they have committed sexual harassment within the last 7 years (after meeting minimum qualifications and before offer of employment).
  • Sign a release form authorizing the release of information by current and/or former employers concerning any substantiated allegations of misconduct (final stages of application process).

Nice To Haves

  • Ph.D., Ed.D. or other advanced degree with specific writing experience in field.
  • General experience teaching business communication, argumentation, grammar, and ESL.
  • Knowledge of case analysis method (Harvard or Ivey).
  • Significant teaching experience in working with diverse populations.
  • Relevant performance and professional experience.
  • Knowledge of or interest in AI-enhancement writing instruction.

  • Teach courses in basic and advanced business communication.
  • Foster a collaborative, supportive, and inclusive environment.
  • Potentially review syllabi, assignments, and reading material by the departmental personnel committee.
