Part - Time Housekeeper
About The Position
The Science Museum is currently seeking a Part-Time Housekeeper to join our Housekeeping Team to ensure that the Science Museum is clean on a daily basis, as well as for special events. As a Housekeeper, you will be responsible for following the Science Museum's cleaning protocols to ensure that all areas are clean and provide guests with the best possible experience. You will also be responsible for cleaning the event spaces before, during, and after each event. The Science Museum has four levels that are cleaned and maintained throughout the day, as well as dedicated event spaces that require regular attention. This position requires availability on nights, weekends, and holidays. This is a part-time position and will be scheduled for 20-25 hours a week but no more than a maximum of 1500 hours in a 12-month period.
Requirements
- Considerable knowledge of cleaning techniques, methods, materials, equipment, and chemicals for a wide variety of surfaces and materials and sanitation standards for a public facility.
- Knowledge of safety practices in using chemicals and cleaning equipment.
- Working skills in the operation of power cleaning equipment such as buffers and vacuum cleaners.
- Ability to perform a variety of cleaning tasks, including lifting and moving heavy objects (up to 50 pounds), frequent standing/walking, pushing/pulling, bending, and reaching.
- Good oral communication skills.
- Availability on nights, weekends, and holidays.
Nice To Haves
- Prior housekeeping experience, preferably in a large multi-building environment, a plus.
