About The Position

Portland Community College (PCC) is seeking applicants for a Part-Time Faculty Interest Pool for Spanish. This pool is used to identify potential candidates for part-time faculty assignments as course needs arise during the academic year. Applications may be considered for both substitute and full-term class assignments. PCC is the largest post-secondary institution in Oregon, committed to making high-quality education accessible and contributing to community economic development. The college serves approximately 80,000 students across four campuses, workforce training centers, and community locations.

Requirements

  • Master of Arts in Spanish OR MAT in Spanish with 30 graduate credit hours in the language, linguistics, literature, and culture.
  • Master of Arts in a related field with a minimum of 30 graduate credit hours in Spanish.
  • Native or near-native ability in Spanish (assessed through a proficiency interview).
  • One year of previous college teaching experience in a related subject.
  • Teaching ability as evidenced by vita and support materials.
  • Recent completion of a 3-credit graduate-level course on college-level Second Language Teaching Methods/Methodology for Spanish, or required completion during the first term of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned Spanish courses.
  • Potentially teach substitute assignments.
  • Potentially teach full-term class assignments.
