About The Position

National University, a veteran-founded, nonprofit institution in San Diego, California, is seeking part-time faculty in Data Science for its Department of Engineering, Data, and Computer Sciences within the College of Business, Engineering, and Technology. The successful candidate will collaborate with the Academic Program Director and faculty to ensure program quality, student engagement, and success.

Requirements

Ph.D. degree in the field of Data Science, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field from a regionally accredited university.
At least 5 years of higher education teaching experience, or 5 years of research record and current research in Data Science and AI.
Research interest in Foundational, Generative, or Agentic AI.

Nice To Haves

Research record in one or more of these fields: Natural Language Processing, Transformers, Multimodal AI, Computer Vision, MLOps, Adversarial Neural Networks, Digital Twins, Optimization.

Responsibilities

Provide substantive, timely feedback to students on various assessment activities.
Maintain a positive, safe, inclusive student-centric learning environment.
Complete required tasks on deadlines (e.g., final grades, assessment, grading rubrics, input for grade appeals, etc.).
Maintain appropriate professional training and/or scholarly activities, when applicable.
Provide feedback to the course lead regarding the course content.
Identify at-risk students and collaborate with student services.
