About The Position

Portland Community College (PCC) is seeking applicants for a Part-Time Faculty Interest Pool in the Medical Laboratory Technology Department at the Cascade Campus. This pool is used to identify applicants as the need arises for new part-time faculty. Applications may be considered for substitute or full-term class assignments. PCC serves approximately 80,000 students across four campuses, five workforce training centers, and 200 community locations, aiming to make high-quality education accessible and contribute to community economic development.

Requirements

Associate’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology OR a Bachelor’s degree in a related science discipline.
MLT (ASCP) or MLS (ASCP) certification or equivalent.
Two (2) years of experience working in a clinical laboratory setting performing testing or in a post-secondary education program.
Copy of ASCP certification (or proof of certification) required.
Unofficial transcript required.

Nice To Haves

For Program Director role: Master's or doctoral degree.
For Program Director role: ASCP-BOC or ASCPi-BOC generalist certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist.
For Program Director role: Knowledge of education methods and administration.
For Program Director role: Knowledge of current NAACLS accreditation procedures and certification procedures.
For Program Director role: Three (3) years of teaching experience.

Responsibilities

Teach courses in the Medical Laboratory Technology program.
List current PCC courses you would be able to teach.
Potentially serve as program director, which requires additional qualifications.
