About The Position

Trinity University is seeking a Part-Time Faculty for the Spring 2027 semester to teach the course GNED-3430-1: Moral Imagination and US Incarceration. This is a non-renewable, one-semester appointment. The instructor will be responsible for coordinating the experiential component of the class, a weekly learning circle inside a prison. The instructor will need to arrange for the transportation of students to the prison and the coordination and oversight of students while at the prison.

Requirements

A master’s degree in a relevant subject
Prior experience in facilitating the Philosophy and Literature Circle with undergraduate students at a Texas prison or jail
Mastery of the relevant subject matter
Ability to deliver engaging lectures, discussions, or in-class activities
Ability to design rigorous and meaningful assignments
Commitment to the liberal arts mission of Trinity University
Must be able to drive a van to the program site

Responsibilities

Developing the course syllabus and ensuring that the syllabus meets departmental and University standards
Designing and delivering lectures, discussions, in-class activities, and assignments
Grading assigned papers, quizzes, and exams
Assigning early, midterm, and final grades in compliance with University deadlines
Maintaining office hours as directed by the department chair or program director
Making student accommodations as determined by the Office of Student Accessibility Services
Adhering to all instructional policies as published in the Faculty Handbook and the Courses of Study Bulletin
Coordinating the experiential component of the class, a weekly learning circle inside a prison
Arranging for the transportation of students to the prison
Coordination and oversight of students while at the prison
