About The Position

The School of STEM Department of Construction Management at Vermont State University is seeking a Part-Time faculty member to teach CPM 2060 - Field Engineering for the Fall 2026 semester (August 24 - December 18, 2026). This course involves 2 hours of lecture and 3 hours of laboratory instruction per week at the VTSU Randolph Campus. The course covers the fundamentals of construction field engineering, survey, and building layout, including the use and care of survey equipment, field practices like measuring distance and elevation, building layout, profile and cross-sectional leveling, and traversing. Trigonometry and geometry are applied for calculations such as balancing angles, distance corrections, and computing areas and volumes. This position carries a 4.01 teaching workload credit per semester.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or better in Engineering, a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to teach the fundamentals of construction field engineering, survey, and building layout.
  • Proficiency in the use and care of survey equipment.
  • Knowledge of trigonometry and geometry for calculations related to surveying and construction.
  • Ability to conduct field practices including measuring distance and elevation, building layout, profile and cross-sectional leveling, and traversing.

Benefits
