About The Position

Scheels is seeking a Part-Time Daytime Cashier to join their team. This role focuses on providing a personalized customer experience, accurately processing transactions, and promoting store programs. The cashier will be responsible for greeting customers, engaging in conversations, scanning items, handling payments, and maintaining a clean and stocked checkout area. The position requires flexibility in scheduling, with an average of 20 hours per week, and operates between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m., Monday through Friday. The company emphasizes a culture of customer service, teamwork, continuous learning, and integrity.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED preferred
1-3 months of cashiering experience preferred
Must be able to sit, stand, bend at the waist, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, walk, push/pull, lift, talk, and hear with or without reasonable accommodation.
Medium work – Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
Associates are expected to follow all safety procedures and perform their job duties in a fashion that minimizes the risk of injury.

Responsibilities

Greet all customers with a smile when entering and exiting the store
Enhance the customer experience by engaging in conversation while providing personalized service and consistently meeting the goals of the digital receipt program
Accurately scan every item customers are purchasing, ensuring all merchandise is properly rung through and paid for before the customer leaves the store
Treat merchandise with care, and bag purchases carefully and efficiently
Promote the Scheels Visa card and clearly explain all benefits
Ask every customer to sign up for digital receipts
End each transaction by saying “thank you” to every customer
Perform basic math, calculate discounts, make change, and accurately balance the cash drawer
Operate the computerized register system and follow all cash handling policies
Maintain an awareness of in-store events and promotions
Keep the checkout area stocked and clean
