The Custodian is responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of all areas assigned. This role involves performing janitorial duties, operating motorized cleaning equipment, and maintaining the daily upkeep of assigned areas. The position also includes responsibilities related to hazardous waste management, such as collecting, classifying, sorting, storing, shipping, receiving, labeling, cleaning, recycling, and packaging of special and hazardous waste. The custodian must comply with all safety rules, policies, and procedures, report incidents and hazardous conditions to their supervisor, and stop at-risk behavior of others and themselves. Work is performed in a team environment, involving repetitive tasks and maintaining a clean work area. The role requires following all protocols, company procedures, policies, and rules, taking direction, and responding to supervision. Effective communication with leads, supervisors, co-workers, managers, and customers in a professional manner is essential. The custodian may also fill in during staff shortages and support shift leads in completing punch-list items, while using proper personal protective equipment and presenting a professional appearance and conduct. Understanding customer service and satisfaction, as well as reporting systems and the environment, is also part of the role.
