About The Position
This opportunity is with our Good Shepherd – Notre Dame House. Youth Services provides support to 15 co-ed homeless youth ages 16-21 as well as a 21-bed youth shelter, including youth who have ongoing contact or involvement with CAS/CCAS/Probation/Youth Justice System/ AY/ADGS and other family counseling agencies. Staff members support clients to reach personal goals and to have a satisfying and meaningful life in the community.
Requirements
- Excellent written and oral communication skills are a necessity
- Certification in CPR or a willingness to be certified is also required
- Committed to anti-racist/anti-oppressive practice and to the mission and values of Good Shepherd
Nice To Haves
- One year cleaning experience in a residential facility
- Experience working with the homeless would be an asset
- Fluency in a language in addition to English is an asset
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate a commitment to the mission values rooted through Hospitality of availability, responsibility, adaptability, quality and dignity
- Be aware of and sensitive to the issues related to poverty, homelessness, mental illness, addictions and developmental disabilities
- Enhance the dignity and quality of life of our clients through the assumed responsibility for cleaning services
- Clean facilities for our Youth facilities
- Maintaining adequate supplies related to cleaning
- Observe all health and safety rules and work in compliance with the provisions of the occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations
