About The Position

As the cashier, you will help facilitate the effective and efficient day-to-day operations of the Thrift Store, ensuring that the Mission of The Salvation Army is effectively carried out.

Requirements

High School Diploma preferred
Position requires a background check to be completed, and all background check results will be reviewed.
At least two years of retail experience preferred.
Experience in use of cash register a plus.
Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain The Salvation Army Driver’s qualification standard; must complete Safe From Harm training within the first 90 days of employment.
Able to speak, write and understand English in a manner sufficient for effective communication with leadership, field personnel, and clientele.
Computer proficiency with Microsoft products and ability to learn electronic reporting systems.

Responsibilities

Be responsible for keeping register, check-out, and counter areas clean and neat.
Assist people with questions, donations and general information.
Complete paperwork associated with the register, count down cash drawer, and prepare deposit at the end of your shift.
Upon closing, you will clear register, account for all sales, fill out daily logbook, turn off signs, and turn off lights.
Price bric-a-brac and place on shelves.
Assist pricing on items such as shoes, purses, jewelry, accessories, etc.
Keep hangers sorted by size/type and return hangers to appropriate hanger system located in clothing production area.
Help check drop boxes daily - empty when necessary.
Keep Christmas and Halloween items separate from bric-a-brac. After season, box and mark for storage.
Place newer or higher priced clothing on special table in designated area.
Place all rags in designated bins.
Take out trash when necessary.
Other tasks as assigned by leadership
