About The Position
This position involves providing a full range of legal services to indigent defendants in the direct appeal of their criminal cases. The role requires representing clients before appellate and trial courts, reviewing trial court records for errors, conducting legal research, and preparing and filing various legal documents such as motions, briefs, and petitions for discretionary review. The attorney will also prepare for and present oral arguments to intermediate courts of appeals and the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals. Additionally, the position involves assisting felony and misdemeanor assistant public defenders with trial support matters, including legal research and providing guidance on legal issues.
Requirements
- Licensed to practice law in the State of Texas
- Three years of experience as a licensed attorney
- Experience in appellate criminal defense
