About The Position

Rogers Sports & Media is seeking a Part-Time Anchor/Reporter for 680 NewsRadio in Toronto. This role is for individuals passionate about storytelling and news anchoring, who thrive in a fast-paced, multi-platform newsroom environment. The position involves collaborating with journalists, building and reading newscasts/traffic reports, and telling stories across multiple platforms with an emphasis on audio.

Requirements

  • A passion for storytelling and knowing how to tell a great story.
  • A developed sense of what kinds of stories Toronto wants and needs to hear, with attention to diverse communities.
  • Knowledge of the roads and bridges in Toronto.
  • Excellent teamwork skills and an amazing attitude towards work and team.
  • Curiosity and a desire to push beyond the surface of news stories, and challenge the status quo.
  • An understanding of the needs of a 21st-century, multi-platform newsroom.
  • A willingness to put the team first and work in service of a larger goal.
  • Ability to multi-task and deliver for multiple, daily online and broadcast deadlines.
  • Willingness to work weekends, evenings, and overnights.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with journalists to find compelling stories.
  • Build and read newscasts or traffic reports on weekends/overnights.
  • Tell stories effectively on multiple platforms, with a special emphasis on audio storytelling and writing.
  • Field reporting when required.
  • Contribute original story ideas and produce riveting content.
  • Support teammates in all areas of the editorial process, from pitch to publish.
  • Deliver stories that stand out from the competition.
  • Focus on telling stories in audio formats, while also contributing to digital and TV programming.
