About The Position

The Office of the Commandant (OOC) serves and supports departments within the Corps of Cadets that are critically engaged in all aspects of student development and the delivery of key services and support. OOC departments work to create environments that help students grow, develop, learn, and enhance their experience at Texas A&M by providing leadership opportunities, experiential education, and connections beyond the classroom. This position will be part of a centralized team that supports the active recruiting efforts of future cadets and their families to Texas A&M and the Corps of Cadets. The Assistant Manager, Cavalry Site, under direction, supports the operations of the Parsons Mounted Cavalry (PMC) program. This position focuses on cadet planning, coordination, and execution of events, movements, and logistics while providing day-to-day operational guidance to cadets. This position will assist with site and livestock management and support equestrian training in developing student leaders through military-style horsemanship. During football operations, this position may assume command of and control of emplaced elements (cannon) within Kyle field while PMC Manager escorts PMC cadets and horses to Fiddlers Green. This position will stand as PMC liaison when PMC Manager is not available.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Four years of related experience.
  • Drivers License – Class C.

Nice To Haves

  • Military Experience or Corps of Cadet Experience.
  • Certified Riding Instructor.
  • Leadership training experience.
  • Must be able to obtain a CDL.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with (e.g., football game day operations), including coordination of cadets, livestock, and equipment across multiple locations and maintains continuity of operations.
  • Coordinate and support movement of cadets, trailers, livestock, and equipment to and from events and training locations.
  • Develop and oversee operational timelines, tasking, and accountability for cadet activities.
  • Train cadets in planning and execution of unit operations, including logistics coordination and risk management.
  • Assist with PMC organization cadet onboarding and reinforce adherence to PMC governing documents and standards.
  • Supports cadet discipline, counseling, and leadership development activities in conjunction with the Manager and PMC Advisor.
  • Provide direct supervision and daily operational guidance to PMC cadets across facilities, campus, and event locations.
  • Assist in coordinating daily operations of the PMC program, supporting cadets and livestock readiness.
  • Oversee transportation logistics of both cadets and livestock, including scheduling and operation of university-owned vehicles and trailers.
  • Operate university-owned vehicles to transport horses, equipment, and personnel as needed.
  • Support on- and off-campus events and public appearances; to include preparation, staging, and breakdown of equipment and resources for events.
  • Assist in development of programs and promotional materials.
  • Support livestock care, feeding, and general herd management as directed by the Site Manager.
  • Assist with coordination of veterinary care and animal health monitoring.
  • Support maintenance of facilities and grounds, including fields, fencing, and infrastructure
  • Assist with tack upkeep and equipment readiness.
  • Transports animals and supplies, operating a university vehicle as directed.
  • Maintain awareness of program budget and expenditures to support operational decisions.
  • Assist with inventory of facilities, equipment, livestock resources, and stored blank cannon ammunition.
  • Support compliance with university policies and operational procedures.
  • Assist with safety practices and emergency response procedures.
  • Support proper handling, storage, and use of ceremonial cannons in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Review and enforce Corps academic guidelines for cadet participation and special unit membership.
  • Supports Manager including during sophomore trial periods for special unit membership.
  • Other duties as assigned.
