The Michigan Department of Corrections is seeking a Parole Probation Officer to supervise offenders and assist them in developing new skills for a prosocial lifestyle, ultimately protecting the public. Responsibilities include preparing background reports for sentencing, supervising offenders on community supervision, and managing specialized caseloads such as sex offenders or those requiring electronic monitoring. The role may also involve acting as an embedded agent with local law enforcement, an Institutional Parole Agent, or an Internet Crimes Against Children Agent. The position requires adherence to departmental policies and procedures, and incumbents will have regular unsupervised access to and direct contact with probationers or parolees. This is a DART (Drug/Alcohol Test Designated) position. Some Institutional Parole Agent roles may involve more than 50% direct contact with prisoners. The position requires considerable independent judgment and has the potential to be a hybrid position for up to 50% of the pay period after initial in-office training.
