Parks Technicians play an important role in keeping parks and park facilities clean and safe for the community to enjoy. They do a full range of maintenance activities to care for park landscapes, irrigation systems, restrooms, outdoor furnishings, playgrounds, and a variety of other tasks related to park maintenance. Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions. As a Parks Technician your duties will include but are not limited to: Cleaning restrooms. Clearing litter and garbage from parks and open spaces. Reporting park rule violations using online services. Placing work orders for repairs beyond the scope of the position using MicroMain. Working daily in a team environment to accomplish assigned tasks. Performing routine landscape maintenance on a frequent and regular basis. Being able to work safely in a heavily used park and regional trails system. Maintaining park furnishings, amenities, and recreation facilities including bathrooms Cleaning, blowing, and pressure washing sidewalks, and other hard surfaces. Maintaining good working relationships with supervisor, crew leader, other employees, bureau partners, and the public to ensure everyone has safe, positive, and lawful enjoyment of the park. Exhibiting a professional attitude and behavior when representing Portland Parks and Recreation.
