Under general direction, plans, organizes, oversees, coordinates, and manages the staff and operations of the Parks Division. This includes planning and maintenance operations for City parks, athletic fields, greenbelts and streetscapes, and associated facilities. The role also involves overseeing and inspecting the work of contractors engaged in landscape maintenance for the City, coordinating the design, review, and implementation of park renovation projects, and planning, implementing, and monitoring the City’s parks capital improvement program. The Parks Manager provides complex and responsible support to the Parks and Community Services Director in areas of expertise and performs related work as required. This is a management classification responsible for planning, organizing, and managing the staff, operations, and activities of the Parks Division. Incumbents are responsible for performing diverse, specialized, and complex work involving significant accountability and decision-making responsibilities, which include division budget administration, program evaluation, and recommendation and implementation of policies, procedures, goals, objectives, priorities, operational needs, and standards related to the modification, maintenance, repair, and operation of the City's parks, fields, and landscapes. Incumbents serve as a professional-level resource for organizational, managerial, and operational analyses and studies. Performance of the work requires the use of considerable independence, initiative, and discretion within broad guidelines.
