About The Position

Under general supervision, maintains the Town’s parks and facilities. The following duties ARE NOT intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed by all employees in this classification, only a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent and two years of experience in landscaping or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Experience with heavy equipment including excavator, backhoe, dump truck, hydraulic auger, sod cutter, and tampers.
Possession of a valid driver’s license.
Possession of a valid Herbicide Applicator License for turf and ornamentals or ability to obtain within six months of hire.
Knowledge of turf and tree management practices and methods.
Knowledge of landscaping methods and practices.
Knowledge of operation, maintenance and repair of irrigation systems.
Knowledge of rules and regulations for chemical spraying.
Knowledge of equipment safety practices.
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with Town staff, contractors, vendors, suppliers and the general public.
Ability to maintain written records.
Ability to use chemical spraying equipment.
Ability to use landscaping equipment.
Ability to use various power and hand tools.
Ability to maintain an inventory of material, supplies and equipment.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Responsibilities

Cleans and maintains assigned Town facilities.
Maintains parks equipment.
Supports turf agronomic and maintenance program for Town parks, facilities and grounds.
Performs weed abatement; removes trash; cleans bathrooms.
Makes repairs of vandalized areas.
Operates irrigation equipment for turf coverage; makes adjustments and repairs to sprinkler lines, timers and valves.
Operate machinery/equipment used in cemetery site opening and closing.Interment site work as assigned.
Maintains the integrity, professionalism, values and goals of the Town by assuring that all rules and regulations are followed, and that accountability and public trust are preserved.
Supports the relationship between the Town and the constituent population by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with residents, visitors and Town staff; enthusiastically promotes the Town’s goals and priorities in compliance with all policies and procedures.
Performs related duties as required or assigned.
