Parks Maintenance Worker 1/2 - Irrigation Technician
About The Position
Performs general irrigation duties; assists in the design, layout and installation of sprinkler systems; selects line sizes, sprinkler spacing, type and control equipment; installs, tests, and maintains systems utilizing low voltage, hydraulic, or other operating features; repairs sprinkler heads and inspects sprinkling systems to assure operation. Performs a variety of working level skilled and semi-skilled duties related to the construction, installation, maintenance, upkeep and repair of recreation facilities, parks, grounds and general environs; gardener for all sports parks and cross-trained in maintaining and prepping sports fields.
Requirements
- Graduation from high school or equivalent
- Two years of progressively responsible experience in the maintenance, upkeep, and beautification of turf, parks, facilities and related environs; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Must possess a Commercial Driver's License
- Some knowledge of equipment such as backhoe, loader, dump truck, mowers, tractor, power over-seeders, aerators, thatcher, welders, trimmers, etc.
- Some knowledge of landscape and sprinkler system design
- Some knowledge of flow pumps
- Some knowledge of hazards and related safety precautions associated with equipment operations
- Some knowledge of herbicides, fungicides, insecticides, and pesticides, and proper application of the same
- Some knowledge of turf management
- Some knowledge of interpersonal communication skills
